Working to promote Taiwan’s strong industrial sectors, TAITRA
successfully organized 28 international trade exhibitions in
2008 (Show
Calendar for 2010and 2011). The trade exhibitions
also promoted Taiwan’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences,
and Exhibitions) industry, elevating Taiwan’s MICE industry to
meet international standards.
The Nangang Exhibition Hall was opened in March, 2008. This
new MICE venue is twice the combined area of the TWTC halls,
allowing show organizers to expand large-scale shows, such as
Taipei CYCLE, Taipei AMPA & AutoTronics Taipei, and Computex
Taipei.
With 30 years of experience, COMPUTEX TAIPEI is already the
first choice procurement platform for both foreign and local
buyers. The COMPUTEX TAIPEI period in Taiwan is known as the "Annual
Golden Week" for the domestic ICT industry. That's because
the ICT industry, coupled with the electronics sector, composes
the chief part of the Taiwan economy and plays a vital role in
global production.
One reason for the global role of Taiwan's ICT industry can
be traced directly back to the international marketing platform
that is provided at COMPUTEX TAIPEI which is Asia's largest
and the second largest in the world. And one of the winning
approaches used by COMPUTEX TAIPEI has been the large-scale
procurement meetings on the opening day of the show which
allows buyers to lay down their exact specification to exhibitors.
In those opening day session there were about a thousand
meetings held over the course of a few hours.
A full menu of things to do and see like
the Taiwan Show Case of Excellence, COMPUFORUM, EXECUTIVE FORUM,
Opening Ceremony, Buyers' Night, Industry and Cultural Tours
, and much more that let the ICT world touch the heart of Taiwan.
Taipei CYCLE is one of the top three cycle trade exhibitions
in the world. In 2009, This event cosponsored by TAITRA and
Taiwan Bicycle Exporters’ Association (TBEA) came with a magnitude
that smashed all records and underscored the strength of the
bicycle for years to come.
More than 52,000 visitors came to the show, including 4,688
overseas buyers. The top five foreign buyers turnouts were
from Japan, US, South Korea, Germany and Hong Kong. (Large
increases in turn out were also registered from countries in
the Middle East, East Europe, Southeast Asia and Central and
South America).
This strong showing has already prompted many buyers to inquire
about pre-arranging bookings at next year’s show. Scores of
booking enquiries for the 2010 show came from foreign manufacturers
in Europe, the US and Australia who wanted to confirm their
place in the coming show.
TAITRA arranged a rich menu of show activities,
including the Global Bicycle Forum on Industry Growth and Market
Trends. Other events included the Tour de Taiwan, Bicycle Design
Forum, Out-door Test-Ride, and the Bicycle Extreme Sport Show.
The 24th AMPA , held in conjunction with the 3rd AUTOTRONICS,
was jointly organized by TAITRA and TEEMA, and succeeded to
hit all-time highs for scale and number of buyers. In 2008,
the number of exhibitors at AMPA increased by 13.6% upon last
year’s event with a booth occupancy rate that grew by 30%.
Meanwhile, at AutoTronics Taipei— the partner show, exhibitors
and booths also climbed 7.6% and 10.2%, respectively. The
combined number of international buyers for the two shows
together reached 5,161— a 22.47% growth from upon last year.
Top 5 purchasing countries by number of buyers were Japan,
the U.S., Malaysia, Korea, and Singapore. Business was so
brisk at the show that exhibitors were kept scrambling to
keep up with the orders.
According to TAITRA statistics, the largest number of buyers
was from Japan (18.81%). This included 971 buyers who came
from Japan, followed by the U.S (10.39%), Malaysia (7.42%),
Korea (5.81%) and Singapore (4.13%).
The Launch of New Exhibitions
In 2008, TAITRA implemented the "Enhancing the Competitiveness
of Taipei Trade Shows" project proposed by the Ministry
of Economic Affairs, and thus held 11 new shows, which
significantly assisted in raising the profile of rising
industries. 1,508 domestic and overseas companies participated
in these 11 new shows, using 3,856 booths.
The shows moreover drew 261,117 general audiences.
For example, the Taiwan International Robot Exhibition (Robot
Taiwan), and Taiwan Broadband Show (Broad Taiwan), were successfully
held for the first time. TAITRA will additionally launch the
“Taiwan International Green Industry Show” and “Taiwan International
MICE Industry Show” in 2009.
TAITRONICS Bangkok and India
TAITRONICS Bangkok 2008 was the third time this show was held
in Thailand since 2006. The aim was to promote the brands
that had been exhibited in the TAITRONICS Taipei in the past
32 years to overseas markets, especially establishing an
exchange platform between Taiwanese and ASEAN countries’
companies.
Apart from the third TAITRONICS Bangkok, TAITRONICS
India was held for the second time in 2008. This four-day event,
was jointly organized by TWTC (Taipei World Trade Center Co.)
and TEEMA. The show was Taiwan’s all-out drive to expand into
South Asia. More than 6,000 visitors were welcomed to the massive
trade event at the Chennai Trade Center. A total of 80 companies
from various industries around the world as diverse as electrical,
electronics, machinery, auto parts, and hand tools participated
in TAITRONICS India.
