The International Trade Institute (ITI) was established to train trade specialists who are well versed in foreign languages and the practices of international trade. ITI offers a range of international business programs that vary in length from six months to two years. ITI also conducts on-the-job training seminars and workshops to help participants increase their knowledge and understanding of international trade, business languages, and management principles.

MICE Certification and Training Project

In recent years, governments around the world have been paying more and more attention to the MICE (Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions & Exhibitions) industry because of its high potential, value added, and innovative benefits. Its potential for creating employment and business opportunities is a powerful driving force for all related industries.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, ITI has been responsible for the MICE Certification and Training Project since 2005. The project includes establishing the Certification System, giving Professional Training Program and Trainers' Training Program, setting up the HR Data Bank, and developing the Mechanism of Learning Assessment.

In 2007, ITI published a series of books, the Introduction of MICE Industry, International Convention Events Management, Exhibition Events Planning, Meeting and Exhibition Site Management, Marketing Meetings and Exhibitions and Incentive Travel Management. ITI also conducted the first MICE Certified Examination Program this year. Individuals who are currently employed in the Meeting and Exhibition Industry or are university graduates of related fields have the opportunity to pursue continuing education to increase their industry involvement.

ITI had provided 15 MICE training programs in 2007. The programs included Trainer's Training Program, Meeting and Exhibition Management, Site Inspection and Overseas Visiting. These programs lasted from 24-50 hours, and more than 679 people attended these programs in the year.
